trodat and the environment

An invisible celebration: 500,000 m3

To see the invisible.
First of all, because CO2 is colourless and virtually odourless. And secondly because these 500,000 m3 or 1,000 metric tonnes of CO2 have not been produced at Trodat at all since 2001.
Our staff provide plenty of ideas, both large and small, on climate protection and our
continuous efforts in energy and production management make Trodat the number 1 in sustainability as well.
We are celebrating an invisible but important anniversary, for the environment and for all
of us. The considerable volume of CO2 saved is the equivalent of the work of 100,000 trees per year, which is approximately the area of 400 hectares (almost 1,000 acres) of Central European forest.

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
As the world market leader in marking products, Trodat believes it has a special responsibility and applies an integrated approach. Trodat has been setting a good example in climate protection for years. Even in 1993, when the Kyoto Protocol had never been mentioned and the strict Austrian laws on the environment did not yet have the position they have today, Trodat had put in place measures for better use of energy. In its whole value creation process Trodat keeps a close eye on efficient use of energy and the careful handling of raw materials (Trodat certification acc. to ISO 14001).
Trodat stamps also stand out from all the products of competitors because of their especially high level of durability (Lifetime Test by DIAM-Consult).

  • 100% recycling of mechanically unstressed parts
  • Production rejects are less than 0.3%
  • The whole production process does not produce any effluent

  • ECONOMICAL USE
    OF ENERGY

Heat recovered from production is used for heating buildings
  • Injection moulding machines are cooled using fresh air
  • 62% of electricity requirements come from renewable energies

  • LESS CO2
1,000 tonnes saving on CO2 emissions purely by reducing the use of fossil fuels, natural gas and electricity since the middle of 2001
  • 250 metric tonnes additional saving on CO2 by changing from fuel oil to natural gas

Those who sell Trodat stamps are automatically supporting responsibly produced goods.
